What The Zuck Is Going On At Facebook?

After the furore over the Cambridge Analytica exploitation of users' information, and the now well established extent to which Russian, and other, trolls flooded the platform, we are being assured, including via TV ad campaigns, that Facebook is finally cleaning up its act to protect us. But is it?

This is my first blog update in a while, some may have wondered where I've been, let me tell you...

The Immorality of the Missionary's Position

It's been nearly a year since the shits stopped hitting my fan and it's time I finally got back to updating this, given I pay for this place and have a right to use it.

What brought about this decision? A debate I had on Facebook these last couple of days, one that has done nothing but strengthen my belief that religion is a blight on human decency.

A Tale of Cupcakes & Cretins

Here's a funny thing. You'd join a Facebook page called “Respectful Debate & Sharing Group” and expect it to offer just that, right? Oh how foolishly optimistic of you. Instead what you'd find is that the admin team remove you for confronting homophobes, bigots, reality dodgers and atheist baiters, then blame you for the most pathetic of reasons.

Let me give you an example.

Christians, Hypothetically Speaking

Why is it that I've rarely found a Christian on Facebook who understands how hypothetical questions work? Seriously, it's like they've never encountered such a concept. I've asked different hypothetical questions on multiple occasions and almost without fail the responses from the Christian contingent completely misunderstand how the damn things work.

A few months ago saw several of us sanity mongers banned from that cesspit of stupidity, we suddenly found ourselves unable to access it and attempts to find out why were unsuccessful. I personally PM'ed the creator, Charles Watson, only to be told it was probably because I'd broken “rule 10”.
