Creationists, who needs 'em!

I’ve not posted in way too long and it is Creationists to blame for I have become addicted to debating their insanity on a daily basis, we all need a hobby! If you read my previous post you’ll get an idea of where I stand on God bothering, or Allah bothering for that matter. Since then, I have immersed myself in the cesspit that is Creationist Facebook pages. I surface, dripping, to give you my thoughts …

Creationists follow a literalistic interpretation of the Bible. This means they firmly believe that God created the Earth in 6 days just 6,000 years ago. They believe he created Adam and Eve as Genesis states. They believe, get this, that dinosaurs were on the Ark and that Noah’s Flood created the Grand Canyon! I’d say you couldn’t make it up but clearly some Bronze Age idiot with a chisel managed it. These fundamentalist Christians are, to be blunt, absolute morons.

You might be wondering why I bother trying to debate with them, other than it being fun, as they’re not harming anybody. Well, you see, yes they are.

They often argue that atheists, such as me, have no morals. Bullshit. I’ve never stolen, never murdered (miraculously), never committed adultery. I’ve never even been drunk, and I’ve certainly never taken drugs. One today said atheists just want to fulfil their lust. Yeah right, that’s why my shortest relationship lasted nearly 5 years and I’ve never had a one night stand!

If we want to look at morality, perhaps we should look to this book they revere;

This is what the Lord of hosts has to say: 'I will punish what Amalek did to Israel when he barred his way as he was coming up from Egypt.  Go, now, attack Amalek, and deal with him and all that he has under the ban.  Do not spare him, but kill men and women, children and infants, oxen and sheep, camels and asses.' 

1 Samuel 15:2-3

Anyone who is captured will be run through with a sword.  Their little children will be dashed to death right before their eyes.  Their homes will be sacked and their wives raped by the attacking hordes.  For I will stir up the Medes against Babylon, and no amount of silver or gold will buy them off.  The attacking armies will shoot down the young people with arrows.  They will have no mercy on helpless babies and will show no compassion for the children.

Isaiah 13:15-18

That’s just two short examples of many instances where God advocates, even commands, the murder of innocent children. How fecking moral is that!? Oh sure, their parents didn’t worship him so these babies deserve to have their brains dashed out. God is, judging by that, a vicious, narcissistic psychopath! Throw in the guidelines God gives on how badly you may beat a slave, how much to pay them and what to do with their children and you have somebody that even the most megalomaniacal dictator would give a standing ovation at the annual “Complete Fucking Mental Bastard Awards”.

Another argument is that homosexuality is wrong, it leads to incest. Oh? I wasn’t aware of any causal link. Actually, on the point of incest didn’t God destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, allowing Lot, his wife and his two daughters to survive? When Lot’s wife looked back God turned her to a pillar of salt and then turned a blind eye whilst Lot’s daughters took him to a cave, got him drunk and seduced him! Perhaps God got off on watching such stuff and the reason we’ve not heard from him in 2000 years is he’s locked up after he took his PC in to PC World and they checked his hard drive!

The ignorance of Creationists can be both amusing and frightening. Frequently we evolution supporters are confronted with the stupidity that is the Holocaust argument. This argues that Darwinism led to Hitler. Did it? Really?

• Hitler repeatedly praised God and wrote of doing His Work in Mein Kampf.
• Hitler spoke of himself “As a true Christian” in a speech.
• Hitler spoke of the immutability of species (the opposite of speciation!)
• Hitler imposed daily Christian prayers in public schools.
• Hitler abhorred atheists.
• Hitler not once mentioned Darwin or evolution in speeches or text.
• Hitler was a supporter of eugenics. Darwin was opposed to it.
• Hitler believed in the subjugation of other people. Darwin was an abolitionist.

Now I’m not saying that Hitler was a Christian in the true sense, though he might have made a good Pope, but he was certainly no atheist and most definitely not a Darwinist! Yet this bullshit is what many Creationists believe, probably because they can’t bring themselves to admit Hitler was one of them any more than they can stomach the fact we’re evolved from the same ancestor as the other apes (for those who don’t know, we Homo Sapiens are classified as an ape).

The most annoying thing with Creationists is their utter intransigence. They will say there’s “no evidence” for evolution. You present them evidence, they refuse to read or watch it. They present a video from the likes of Kent Hovind (convicted fraudster) or Ken Ham (of the Creation Museum – it’s more a theme park for the mentally challenged) and we present counter material that soundly debunks it, and they again refuse to read or watch it. They’ll ‘quote mine’, finding respected scientists such as Richard Dawkins and taking parts of what they have said out of context, a trick all too commonly used by the Creationist propaganda machine. We take notice of their evidence, it’s how we can drop our collective metaphorical trousers and metaphorically piddle all over it with scientifically validated rebuttals!

In the end they resort to mocking evolution using the most ridiculous arguments and, when all else fails, equate non-Creationism to atheism (it’s not synonymous, many theists accept evolution) or even say it’s satanic. All this whilst simultaneously gloating how their souls already have a place in Heaven as they’ve accepted Sky Daddy’s little ankle-biter, Jesus, into their hearts and we’re all going to Hell.

Apparently, according to their logic, even Hitler will be in Heaven if he accepted Jesus into his heart before blowing his vile, poisonous brains out. Conversely, somebody who spends their life doing their utmost to avoid hurting others, doing good whenever possible and generally leading a ‘good’ life will still burn in Hell unless they’ve accepted the Holy Sprog AND accept their literalistic interpretation of a Bronze Age creation myth.

This rule doesn’t make God loving, benevolant and just, this makes Sky Daddy a complete wanker with an inferiority complex! Sorry if that offends you but if it does, get over yourself!
